New limits come into effect from October 20th
The Belgian Gambling Commission, Kansspelcommissie – Commission des jeux de hasard (CJH), has announced that a Royal Decree on player spending limits for online gambling will come into effect as of October 20th, 2022.
The Royal Decree was first announced in July and will see players at online gambling websites limited to maximum deposits of €200 per week per gambling website. The previous limit was €500 per week for each individual website. The week is a seven-day period which is treated as a moving window that begins on the day that the player makes their first deposit. The limit will then reset every seven days.
According to the CJH announcement:
Only persons who are not registered as defaulters with the Central Individual Credit Register of the National Bank may request the lifting of this limit.
The CJH also noted that it is possible for player to request a lower deposit limit from individual gambling operators. It also recommends that gamblers should not spend more than 5% of their income on gambling either online or in person.
